The Spectacular
Dallas Senior Follies opened September 5, 2008 at the Eisemann in
Richardson, Texas under the direction of Mark Carroll.
Mark has said, " The Metroplex is full of talented and creative
people age 55 and over. At long last, this will showcase all those
amazing talents who may have thought their chance to be a star
had passed." The annual productions feature the classics from the
30s, 40s and 50s and are reminiscent of the legendary Ziegfield
Follies highlighting variety acts, singers, dancers and, keeping
with tradition, showgirls in stunning costumes with a backdrop
of professionally-designed sets rivaling Broadway.
In
the spring of 2007 Ned Startzel approached Mark to discuss the
possibility of producing a professional-level
Senior Follies
similar
to that produced by the Palm Springs, California entertainment
community. Mark and Ned met again early in 2008, which led to Ned
recruiting Frank A. Frazier III and then organizing a board of directors.
As they say, the rest is history.
The Dallas Senior Follies is a Texas 501(c)3 corporation.
Ed
Sward Photography has provided photography support for the Senior
Follies since 2008 and annually produces a picture book of the
show.
